- Launch of "Bitcoin Thunderbolt": The Bitcoin Thunderbolt upgrade drastically boosted network performance—delivering transaction speeds up to 2000× faster than the traditional Bitcoin network. With support for native stablecoin settlement, it saw massive early traction: over 4 million transactions processed and nearly 270,000 users onboarded within days of launch.
- Network Difficulty and the “Zetahash” Era: Bitcoin’s network difficulty reached a historic peak, marking the start of the so-called “zetahash” era, where global hashpower hit unprecedented levels. Despite the milestone, miners are facing financial pressure due to rising operational costs and reduced fee income, squeezing profitability across the industry.
